10 Things I Am Doing, Thinking, and Feeling to Re-center and Re-calibrate After the Loss of a Parent

  1. Spending time alone to remember
  2. Spending time with my siblings who I feel are the only people in the world to truly understand
  3. Collecting memories, both tangible and in my mind to hold onto forever and to pass down
  4. Talking to both of my parents as if they were still with me and telling them I love them, honor them, forgive them, cherish them always and forever, and making sure to express my deep gratitude
  5. Feeling sad and crying when I need to
  6. Being honest in admitting when I am not okay
  7. Thinking intensely of what I have learned
  8. Setting new goals and life missions based on the wisdom I have gained
  9. Contemplating what is most important in life
  10. Reflecting on how I wish to help my own children through this process.
